- The Governor believes some herders gave wrong information in their yearly reindeer report. Police in Nordland are investigating.

Norway establishes its largest marine protected area at 1,848.5 km² in Andfjorden
- On 18 September 2026, the Norwegian government created Andfjorden Marine Protected Area – the country's largest – covering 1,848.5 km² across three municipalities: Andøy, Harstad and Senja. That is roughly the size of the entire Oslofjord.
- The protected area runs from the coast out to the open ocean. An underwater valley called Bleiksdjupet – more than 1,000 metres deep – pushes nutrient-rich water up into Andfjorden, creating conditions for rare habitats: coral reefs, coral forests and sponge forests that would normally only exist at much greater depths.
