   Lillestrøm receives NOK 475,000 for a free after-school club for grades 5–7 at Volla School

   • Lillestrøm municipality has received NOK 475,000 from the Fritidsklubbløftet programme. The money will fund a new after-school club at Volla School.
   • The club is free for children in grades 5–7. It opens right after school and serves a snack.

   DSA puts NND's licence application for the Kjeller nuclear facility out for consultation – deadline 20 November 2026

   • The Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (DSA) has opened a public consultation on an application about the Kjeller nuclear facility. Anyone can give their views before DSA advises the Ministry of Health and Care Services.
   • The Institute for Energy Technology (IFE) owns the facility today. To take it over, Norwegian Nuclear Decommissioning (NND) needs a licence under the Atomic Energy Act. NND is the state body that shuts down and cleans up Norway's nuclear facilities.

   Zoning plan kicks off for Kvartal 6 in central Lillestrøm: housing and commercial use, comments due November 2026

   • Sweco Architects is starting work on a detailed zoning plan for Kvartal 6 in Lillestrøm. They are doing it for the developer, Lillestrøm Kvartal 6 AS. The goal is new homes and commercial buildings. Talks on a development agreement, a deal between the municipality and the developer on what the developer will contribute, are also starting.
   • The area is about 20 decares and lies in central Lillestrøm, between Brogata, Voldgata and Adolph Tidemands gate. The municipal plan sets it aside for town-centre use. The work will look at how tall buildings can be, how much can be built and what the land will be used for.

   Laila Haugen appointed Lillestrøm's new head of kindergartens, starting 1 December

   • Laila Haugen is the new municipal director for kindergartens in Lillestrøm. She starts on 1 December.
   • She was CEO of the kindergarten chain Ulna Norge from 2019 to 2025. She has also worked in kindergartens in Bydel Alna and as a personnel and HR manager in a private company.

   Lillestrøm council to study Stortorget underground car park and hall support, and backs an international school

   • Sports facilities (case 108/26): The municipality keeps its current way of funding sports facility investments, with some changes. The former municipalities Skedsmo, Sørum and Fet did this differently. Oslo Economics studied the issue.
   • The council wants proposals for support to Eika Fet Arena and Frognerhallen so the halls can stay open. The issue will be taken up in the December 2026 budget.

   • On 10 June 2026 Lillestrøm's council decided to bring in residents' parking near the town centre. A local regulation (a set of rules) for the scheme is now open for public comment.
