First procurement for the Mjøs Hospital announced: client's advisers to ensure coherence across nine sub-projects

    • Sykehusbygg has asked for bids on the first job for the new Mjøs Hospital. It is for architects and engineers who will advise the client (the party ordering and owning the building). It is posted on Doffin. A digital tender conference is on Monday 19 October at 12:00.
    • The advisers must make sure the nine sub-projects fit together into one whole hospital. They will also help set the design rules for later parts.

Values clarification in shared decision-making: stronger evidence from Cochrane 2024, but real-world practice lags far behind

    • The 2024 Cochrane review pooled 209 studies with 107,698 participants. It shows decision aids help patients choose in line with their own values. Patients are also less unsure about what matters to them, feel better informed and take part more. The tools do not reduce regret about the choice.
    • The 2021 review showed that methods where patients rank or weigh options themselves lead to fewer choices that clash with their values. A method called MCDA (a structured way to weigh several criteria) gave the most matching choices. It is disputed whether you can measure at all if a choice fits someone's values.

    • A survey of the region's hospital trusts found that good local initiatives already exist but are not collected or shared between hospitals.
