Stoltenberg presents 2027 'security' budget: NOK 6.4bn income tax cuts and defence at 3.4% of GDP

    • Main message: the budget aims to make the country safer in uncertain times. Prices rose about 10% in three years, but wages rose over 15%. People have more buying power than ever, and this is expected to continue next year. Still, many struggle.
    • Defence gets NOK 192bn. That is 3.4% of everything Norway produces (GDP), and NOK 6.5bn more than this year. NATO's goal is 3.5% by 2035, so Norway is almost there. Ukraine also gets support, and police and security services are strengthened.
