   Ålesund approves minor zoning change for Gåseid–Lerstad shifting a road up to 1.3 metres

   • Ålesund municipality has approved a small change to the zoning plan for Gåseid–Lerstad, for Lerstadvegen (gnr./bnr. 38/3). Municipal staff made the decision, not elected politicians.
   • The road o_SVK40 moves up to 1.3 metres west so it matches the real property boundaries. The plan map also gets small changes for an access point and building line. The plan's rules are not changed.

   Zoning plan kicked off for up to 34 flats in low-rise blocks at Breivikvegen 48; comments due 28.10.2026

   • Work has started on a new zoning plan for Breivikvegen 48 (gnr. 50 bnr. 1054 etc.). It would allow low-rise blocks with up to 34 flats, garages and play and outdoor areas.
   • Most of the land is already set aside for housing. Some smaller parts are green areas, recreation areas or public and private services. The current 1995 plan allows detached houses, roads, a path and a park.

   Ålesund approves twin house by Olsvikbekken after new flood calculation

   • Ålesund municipality has approved a change to the zoning plan for Østre Olsvikveg (plot 34/383), under section 12-14 of the Planning and Building Act.
   • A new flood calculation shows that the areas that could flood south of Olsvikbekken are smaller than before. So the housing area can be extended toward the stream.

   Ålesund municipality to fly flags at half-mast for Princess Astrid's funeral on 23 September

   • Ålesund municipality will lower its flags to half-mast on Wednesday 23 September. This is because Princess Astrid, Mrs Ferner, is being buried.
   • The flags stay at half-mast from the morning until the funeral ends at 2 p.m. After that, they go back to the top of the pole for the rest of the day.

   Ålesund consults on regulation keeping two counting dates for private kindergarten grants

   • The Executive Committee of Ålesund municipality has asked for public comments on a proposed local regulation. It sets out when private kindergartens must report figures. The deadline is 30 October 2026.
   • The background is new rules in the Kindergarten Act and the financing regulation. If a municipality wants more reporting dates than the national one on 15 December, it must write them into a local regulation.

   Ålesund municipality tags 11 trees with posters showing what the trees contribute

   • On 18 September, 11 trees in Ålesund get posters. They tell people what species the tree is, how big it is and what it does for its surroundings. The town takes part in the European TreeTag campaign, where trees in several countries are tagged on the same day.
   • The trees include a horse chestnut in Byparken, copper beeches at Bybadet and Stavsethneset, an elm at Storhaugen, pines at Ellingsøya and Valle schools, a beech in Skodje and an ash in Sjøholt.
