   Ås council adopts zoning plan replacing a disused kindergarten at Toveien 30 with six housing units

   • Ås municipal council approved a detailed plan for Toveien 30 in Togrenda on 16 September 2026 (case 88/26). The site is about 2.1 decares and lies among small houses. The municipal plan says it should be used for housing.
   • The site was a municipal kindergarten. It has stood empty since the new kindergarten at Nordby opened.

   Ås municipal director proposes NOK 550 million for school rehabilitation in tight 2027–2030 budget

   • On 14 October 2026 the municipal director presented a proposed budget and action programme for 2027–2030. The goal is good services, better building maintenance and new IT systems, with less money to spend.
   • Finances are better than before: deficits in 2023 and 2024, but a surplus in 2025. The 2026 forecast is also better than budgeted. But some of the gain will not last, and the municipality has low income, high debt and big maintenance needs.

   Ås approved as a Traffic Safe Municipality – number 213 in Norway

   • Trygg Trafikk has approved Ås municipality as a "Traffic Safe Municipality". Ås is number 213 in Norway. The approval was marked on Tuesday 13 October together with Trygg Trafikk and Akershus County Municipality.
   • The municipality had to show that traffic safety is a regular part of its work, both politically and in the administration. This covers owning roads, planning land use, running schools and kindergartens, being an employer and providing services.

    Trygve Skaug to give concert and exhibit at NorthArt 2026 at Ås kulturhus

    • The NorthArt art exhibition is called "A Moment of Freedom". It is at Ås kulturhus from 21 to 25 October. It opens Wednesday 21 October at 18:00 and ends Sunday 25 October.
    • 33 artists from all over Norway show more than 160 works. These include prints, paintings, photos, drawings and digital art. All works can be bought.
